SUPPORT SLIFE STUDENTS: Save Native Literacy, Stop Forced Exits The SLIFE program is designed to serve multilingual learners who have interrupted or limited education. This is a legally mandated program for students who enter with literacy skills 2 or more years below grade level to exit with skills that allow them to access the general education curriculum. SLIFE programs provide intensive instruction in students’ native languages. Research shows that strong literacy skills in your first language are an indicator of literacy skills for second or third languages. BPS is mandating that we exit students after 2 years. SLIFE student exits need to be individualized and based on students’ academic needs. We oppose a 2 year, one size fits all model. Come join us on June 10th at the Bruce V.
